New Directions for the Community Space

Effective March 1, the Rainbow Community Space is spinning off from the Coalition!

The Community Space has grown by leaps and bounds over the past year and is now ready to stand on its own two feet. The Space will now be called “Spectrum”. Symbolic of the diversity in the Rainbow community, the name “Spectrum” is a representation of the Community Space’s efforts to create a sustainable, supportive, positive, and safe space for people of all ages in the Waterloo Region. Spectrum is still open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5pm-8pm and Saturday afternoons from 2pm-5pm. For more information, visit their FacebookwebsiteTwitter or email at info@spectrum.com.

We wish Spectrum well on this next phase of their journey!

The Coalition continues to focus on collaborative community-based projects that enhance the well-being of the local Rainbow community. Our emphasis is on building strong and supportive networks of LGBTQ and LGBTQ-friendly folks across the region. Our next step is likely to creating a community-driven web portal to provide a first point of contact to accessing information, resources, news and make connections with the local Rainbow community.

We hope you’ll join us for our annual community conversation on April 11, 2013 from 6:30-8:30PM at Kitchener City Hall (Conestoga Room) – stay tuned for more information!

We want to hear from you about our achievements so far, get your input and involvement in our future directions, and talk about how we can keep moving forward in building the voice of the local Rainbow community.
